Motupalli directly addresses a popular theological error associated with Reformed thinkers such as John Piper, who has argued that “the resurrection of Jesus is God’s declaration that we cannot work our way to glory.” Motupalli contends this reading misses what Scripture actually shows: that Jesus Christ Himself — born of a woman, born under the Law — did work His way to glory through earthly obedience, suffering, and death. “His resurrection was not a shortcut around His earthly obedience,” Motupalli states. “The resurrection followed the work.
