Infant Baptism

A sister asked:
Quote:
I am not Catholic but have serious concerns on witnessing to a Catholic friend about the subject of Infant baptism and the Catholic teaching of babies go to hell when they die if they have not been baptized. I want to be bible based factual when I witness.

First off, we must remember that when Adam sinned, sin entered the world and all died. This is having some "original sin" in us that causes us to die. There is no reason why one should decay and die but we die due to this original sin.

Since we know that "Baptism saves" (1 Peter 3:21) if a head of a household is born-again of water and the Spirit, then his children should be Infant-Baptized (cleansed) with him. And they should be "brought up in the fear and nurture of the Lord."

However, Infant-Baptism is not for children who have at least one parent who is Christian. For, he/she is born clean (1 Corinthians 7:14). But they may posses the genetic predisposition to sin even though their parents have mortified sin to a large degree. In other words, they would have inherited sin nature of one kind or the other depending upon how much their parents completely mortified sin in their flesh. This is mostly the case, as perfection can only come about when the whole body is united (Hebrews 11:39-40), which we know has not yet taken place. Therefore, children born of Christian parents should be brought up in the fear and nurture of the Lord through Godly discipline. And later in their life when they do recognize that certain sins of their's are going unpunished, they should come under the discipline of God Himself by taking Believer's Baptism. For more on this check out the article on being born-again.
